 Hope By Design's Founder, Tonya Walker noticed more and more of her family, friends, and neighbors taking children into their homes. They had good intentions, but their homes weren’t ready to support the newcomers 

who almost always had few possessions.

“It was a financial burden to purchase them a bed and a dresser. I started having the same dream over and over 

every night. I couldn’t get over it. It was consuming me. It was this furniture ministry,” Walker said.

That is when Walker decided to create Hope By Design, a furniture and decor bank that fully furnishes the new 

dwellings of those coming out of homelessness, domestic violence, shelters, foster care, poverty, and other dire life circumstances. Clients visit Hope By Design's showroom and work with designers to choose their new furniture, kitchenware, linens, bath items, decor, and other essentials. Hope By Design then delivers and beautifully arranges the client's chosen items, from putting together the furniture to making the beds and setting their new dining table.

The relief of Hope By Design's clients is palpable as soon as they step through their new front door.

Then, there's an overwhelming sense of excitement and joy. Now that our clients no longer have the weight of housing insecurity weighing heavily on their hearts and minds, they can truly flourish.

 Hope by Design officially became a nonprofit organization in October 2019 and has since fully furnished new 

homes and apartments for hundreds of individuals and families in need.
